What should you do in the case of Property Damage?
In an event of Property Damage it is necessary to take all possible measures to limit the harmful consequences and follow the instructions provided by the insurer to prevent from causing additional damage to the property.
Inform the insurance company about the Property Damage no later than 3 days from its occurence for the purpose of reporting the damage either in writting, directly in our branch offices or by telephone.
In all cases of Property Damage, and especially when the damage is caused by a fire, theft or accident, the damage should be reported to the Ministry of Internal Affairs and an inventory should be prepared of destroyed, damaged or missing items in the event.
Immediately after the harmfull event, it is advisible to prepare a list of destroyed or damaged items with their approximate value, should the circumstances allow.
Until the arrival of a representative from the insurance company at the place of the damaged property, the condition of damaged or destroyed items must not be altered in any other way, unless it is necessary to prevent from the occurence of greater damage, or to enable the normal course of operations at the property. In the case of intervening on the damaged property, the insured is obliged to inform the insurer by a telephone or in any other way for the relevant actions taken. If repairs are done, be sure to preserve the original damaged/destroyed items which were replaced for the purpose of their subsequent inspection from the appraisal specialist.
The insured is obliged to obtain and submit all the information and all other evidence necessary to determine the cause, extent and the amount of damage, irrespective of the period in which he/she reported the damage. The insurer also may require additional evidence, if necessary.
How and where you can report the Property Damage?
The damage may be reported in person in the premises of Croatia Insurance - non-life, or by e-mail or fax. The form for reporting the damage should be filled in with all requested information and personally signed together with the additional documentation attached to the form and submitted to the nearest branch office of Croatia Insurance Non-life.
The damage can be reported by telephone too, in which case it is necessary to fill in the claim for damage in a written form as soon as possible and no later than 3 days after the occurence of damage.
